Obituary – Kathy Brown
The Milford Bowling Club has lost one of its longest serving and most effective members with the passing, after a short illness, of Kathy Brown.
In the words of club member, Roger Stokes, Kathy “did a tremendous amount of work over many years.”
She served on the match committee organising and running many tournaments and championships, with a gentle but firm hand, was the club president in 2018-19 and was the club’s delegate to Bowls North Harbour.
She was also a member of the Northcote women’s club and was widely respected and liked throughout the centre.
Though she never won a centre title, Kathy was a competent bowler, the winner of 15 Milford championship titles, five times in women’s pairs, four in women’s triples, twice in women’s fours and four in mixed fours, and twice a winner in the Founders tournament.
