Acknowledgement to the Rep Men at Mangawhai
Good afternoon
Thanks for your efforts on Sunday at Mangawhai. It was our last hit out as a Prem 1/Prem 2 squad.
Prem 1 – We thought that the quadrangular provided us with a very useful “training run” ahead of the Intercentre and we needed that. Well done in coming first equal on points and then winning on differential. Obviously the field was quite even. Unfortunately, at this stage, we don’t have the scoresheet so it’s difficult to assess team by team but special mention about Bart’s 3 wins and the differential that got us across the line. Generally, the management team thought all 3 “teams” got better in tricky conditions as the day went on and that was what we wanted to see.
In consequence, we will be better prepared for the Intercentre.
Prem 2 – We have the scoresheet which shows that we came 3rd with 18 points. Northland won on 23 and Auckland followed with 20 points. We weren’t far away. Well done to John, Errol, Peter and Duane with 3 wins while Jack and Jim had 2. Kevin faced stern competition in the singles (especially from the very experienced Kevin Robinson who set up Northland with 3 convincing wins), while Greg and Coxie were a new combination.
Overall our Prem 2 squad has had a really good season – the highpoint being the win you had in the Battle of the Bridge against a very good Auckland side. It’s been a privilege to work with you.
Thanks again everyone.
Gary, Neil and Bruce
